Shoe shopping
December 31st, 2007 Posted in Annoyances, Social AwarenessI wanted to get a new pair of shoes for the new year. So, I went to Nordstrom to take advantage of the holiday sales. I decided against getting another pair of Ecco’s, even though they are my favorite. I wanted something a bit more casual. What I ended up finding were a bunch of overpriced shoes all manufactured in China. The same thing held true at Macy’s, Aldo, and Clarks, which in the past had shoes made in Italy and England (so much for British engineering). I finally went to a small store on Capitol Hill and got myself a pair of Campers. I know some of you are reading this and thinking that my comments are incredibly racist and unfair to Chinese laborers. Well, my issue is not with the workers but with corporations charging consumers outlandish prices when they are paying their employees unfairly low wages. I also have concern about the quality standards. As for my shoe hunt, I ended up with a stylish pair of Campers. ![]()
