Swingers got you down? Mind your own business!

June 14th, 2008 Posted in Annoyances, Humor | No Comments »

I saw this news video on CNN this morning about a swinger’s club that is operating in a residential neighborhood. Now, being a homeowner and a member of my condo board, I recognize the importance of maintaining a safe and quiet community. However, I don’t understand what right these people have to infringe on the sex lives of consenting adults. Their neighbors are not running a drug front, there isn’t loud music booming from the home, and - at least from the video - it appears as if only a handful of vehicles enter the private, gated property. I think this is more an issue of bruised moral egos and Kim Pankcake and his holy roller brigade need to mind their own fucking business. Why do I think this? The individuals interviewed are concerned about their property values (which is understandable, but again, a sign that says party here late night on a weekend in front of an otherwise quiet home isn’t going to be a deal breaker for nearly anyone). I especially love the woman who says, “we don’t know what it will bring in… we’ve had people get out of their cars.” What? People GETTING OUT of their cars! Oh, I’ve seen that happen in my neighborhood… I wonder if every house on my block is running a swingers club. They should be glad that they have otherwise quiet neighbors who keep a clean yard, and keep to themselves. Better yet, they should invite themselves over to the party… and bring a bundt cake. ;-)

Sick doggy

Our dog, Sophocles, has had an upset tummy. It’s been going on for two weeks. We’re taking him back to the vet, but I hope he’s okay… it’s sad (and smelly) to have a sick doggy. :-(

The Incredible Hulk

Went to go see a sneek screening of The Incredible Hulk last nigh with some friends. I was plesantly surprised. Edward Norton is great in the film and there was a fantastic blend of action and actual plot. The best part? (Stop reading if you don’t want the ending spolied)… the Iron Man tie-in at the end. I’m envisioning next summer’s blockbuster already. ;-)

Steve, you tease…

I know this probably sounds selfish or silly, but I was really hoping for more with today’s announcements from Apple. I thought Steve Jobs was going to have more to share related to the iPhone hardware update. Don’t get me wrong, the 3G capabilities are necessary and the GPS functionality is going to be awesome, but I honestly thought we would see a bit more. Now, I knew the video-conferenceing camerea stuff was probably unrealistic, but I wouldn’t have minded seeing a beefed up camera (with video support) on the next version.

I do think all the software upgrades are awesome and I am looking forward to them! I also think that, had I not bought an iPhone in December, I would hands down get the new edition, but I can’t justify spending even $200 for the upgrade.

Welcome Giana!
